So far June has been a busy month for us! We kicked off the month by hosting a fundraiser supporting the Alzheimer’s Innovation Fund founded by the Vettel Family benefiting Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The many attending had the opportunity to hear from Dr. Dennis Selkoe, MD and Dr. Reisa Sperling, MD discussing up-to-the-minute advances in the fight against the disease. A lively discussion ensued as the Drs. addressed a multitude of questions from guests, most having been personally impacted by the devastating affect of the disease on family members.
Matt and Jenna Vettel of Weston established the Alzheimer’s Innovation fund to help provide critical seed funding to promising research projects aimed at Alzheimer’s prevention. “Like so many of you, we are eager to move this research forward. And we know philanthropy is the key,” Matt said. “Even though BWH is one of the top recipients of funding from the National Institutes of Health, research grants take years for approval with only about 30% receiving funding.” To learn more about the foundation and Brigham and Women's click here.
The event kicked off a month long fundraising effort where 20% off the store’s proceeds will be donated to the Fund. Many of our vendors generously donated amazing pieces from furniture, artwork, home accents and more to be included in a silent auction. While many items have already been claimed we have a wonderful assortment remaining to be bid on. Some of the vendors include Sherrill Occasional, Bernhardt Interiors, Currey & Company, and more. Below is a small sampling of what is still available in the silent auction.
If you are interested in helping our fundraising efforts come and shop our floor, or even better bid in the silent auction now through the end of June! As well, be on the look out as this will not be our last effort, we plan to continue to work with the Alzheimer’s Innovation Fund and the amazing team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital through out the year.
